FlowBiz Swing check valves are usually recommended for water and wastewater systems applications because of the simple construction, low-pressure drop across the valve, and field serviceability.
Our Swing check valves are available in either metal-to-metal seats or resilient seating. Resilient seated swing check valves are usually recommended for wastewater or services where dirt or other particles may be present in the fluid and positive shutoff is required.
The swing check valve has a valve body, seat, and disc linked to the hinge. Upon encountering a specified flow rate, the disc rotates horizontally, enabling forward flow. It returns to the valve seat when the flow stops to prevent backflow.
Application of Swing Check Valve
A swing check valve can be applied to various media like water, steam, oil, nitric acid, acetic acid, oxidizing solid media, and urea. They are mainly used in petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical, fertilizer, power, and other pipelines. It is suitable for clean media and not for media containing solid particles and high viscosity.
Where the flow of the medium is known to be pulsating and low, using a swing check valve is not recommended. Due to this, the valve disc hits the seat, which causes the valve to suffer considerable damage causing wear to both discs. The swing disc can come loose, and as a result, the valve stops working correctly.
