Material Grades: Cast Carbon Steel (ASTM A216 WCB), Stainless Steel (CF8/CF8M), Alloy Steels, Monel, Hastelloy, and Marine Bronze.
Plug Profile Geometries: Parabolic, Regulating, Throttling, and Guided Type Plugs tailored for precise flow coefficient (Cv) calibration.
Specialty Design Options: Bellows-Sealed (Zero Fugitive Emissions), Cryogenic extensions, High-Temperature configurations, and integrated Pressure Balancing Trim for large-diameter lines.
To ensure seamless integration into complex piping arrangements, FlowBiz manufactures three distinct pressure housing geometries:
Straight "T" Pattern: The most common design, featuring a horizontal baffle seat path. Perfect for standard continuous throttling applications where general system head loss is acceptable.
Y-Pattern ("Y" Type): The seat and stem are angled at approximately 45. This creates a straighter flow path that drastically reduces path turbulence and pressure drop (P) while retaining fine modulating capabilities.
Angle Pattern: Designed with inlet and outlet ports set at a 90 angle. This configuration allows the valve to serve both as a flow control asset and a piping elbow, reducing structural space requirements.
For standard clear water and gas utilities, we offer high-density soft seats for absolute bubble-tight isolation. For high-pressure steam, fuel oil, and abrasive processing chemical lines, our valves feature heavy-duty Metal-to-Metal seating overlaid with Stellite hardfacing, resisting wire-drawing, cavitation erosion, and thermal binding.
Our high-pressure globe valves feature an OS&Y architecture that keeps the critical stem drive threads entirely outside the valve bonnet. This shields the stem lubrication from extreme process temperatures, chemical corrosion, and line scaling, ensuring low-torque manual operation or smooth actuation across decades of continuous service.
The top-mounting pad accommodates diverse actuation options to meet advanced plant automation requirements:
Manual Control: Ergonomic handwheels or high-ratio bevel gearboxes for heavy sizes (such as 8-inch lines and above).
Automated Loops: Seamless integration with high-speed Pneumatic Actuators for fast throttling control, or Electric Actuators configured for centralized SCADA/DCS networks.
Power Generation & Refineries: Superheated steam bypass networks, turbine drains, boiler feed pump lines, and high-pressure oil transmission.
Petrochemical & Processing Plants: High-precision chemical dosing skids, volatile gas isolation, and chemical processing headers.
Municipal Cooling Water Systems: Regulating large-diameter chiller loops, auxiliary cooling tower mains, and raw water transmission lines.
Cryogenic & Marine Engineering: Handling liquefied gases, high-vacuum systems, and marine fuel oil bunkering lines.
A: Inside a globe valve, fluid cannot travel in a straight line. It must make a tortuous path up and through a horizontal baffle seat. This internal direction change inherently introduces fluid resistance, leading to a permanent pressure drop across the valve. However, this design trade-off is what enables the valve to handle severe, continuous fluid throttling without suffering from the seat erosion that would quickly destroy other valve types.
A: Mild steel lacks the necessary chemical properties and high-temperature tensile strength required to contain pressurized volatile fluids securely. FlowBiz utilizes premium ASTM A216 WCB Cast Carbon Steel or ASTM A351 CF8M Stainless Steel. These high-grade alloys provide superior pressure containment, high impact resistance against water hammer, and exceptional structural longevity under severe pressure limits (up to Class 2500#).
A: Globe valves are strictly directional. They are designed to receive fluid forces in a specific orientationtypically entering from underneath the plug disc. Installing the valve in reverse forces the pipeline pressure to push down on top of the disc when closed, putting immense stress on the stem threads and gland packing, which can lead to premature packing failure and difficult manual operation.
A: A standard T-pattern globe valve is excellent for general throttling but introduces a high pressure drop. If your pipeline loop requires fine fluid regulation or throttling but cannot tolerate a massive drop in line pressure or fluid velocity, a Y-Pattern Globe Valve should be specified. Its 45 angled construction allows fluid to pass with minimal structural resistance while maintaining exact modulating capabilities.
